A Wascosa prototype is equipped with digital loading monitoring
In Sweden, a Wascosa 60‘ container wagon with stanchions was fitted with an automatic load monitoring system.

Digital monitoring reduces loading time, reliably determines the load weight, and prevents overloading, which is an important factor in timber transport. Both the customer and Wascosa have been impressed by the results of the field test conducted over the past few months.
When loading freight that weighs several tonnes, the utmost precision is required. Asymmetrical or overloaded wagons pose a safety risk and can result in costly consequences.
Easy upgrade – for all types of freight wagons The wagons are equipped with a WaggonTracker box and a wheel hub generator, which ensures an autonomous, powerful power supply. The system is designed for freezing temperatures down to -45 degrees. In the case of Wascosa wagons, special batteries also ensure that they can be charged even at -25 degrees.
Sensors and signal lamps are also installed. The result:
→ Real-time visualisation on site during the loading process, enabling the loader to adjust the freight as required
→ Real-time remote information via web service to ensure protection against overloading, correct load distribution (no asymmetrical loading) and optimum utilisation of transport capacity
→ Detecting the total weight and, optionally, bogie, wheel set or wheel disc load
→ Geofence - route class-based parameterisation of the maximum weight
→ Calibration and limit value change over the air (OTA). Carriers reap the benefits from day one:
→ Automation of the logistics process
→ Lower costs thanks to optimal utilisation of loading capacity
→ Prevention of overloading, as the maximum weight limit is not exceeded
→ Time savings, thanks to faster loading and no additional weighing or lengthy queues at infrastructure checkpoints, as the load limit is adhered to Lower maintenance costs and higher mileage thanks to reduced stress on the wheel sets and bogie frame
→ Optimised maintenance based on actual mileage and usage
→ The process is more efficient, as time-consuming manual weighing is no longer necessary
→ Less damage to wheel sets thanks to optimised brake adjustment during train formation
→ Increased safety, as individual components are no longer overloaded
→ Real-time information on loading progress and shunting times for end customers and freight forwarders
→ Creation of digital train lists including actual individual and total weights
→ Higher wagon availability
→ Control of weighing data provided by the customer
“Wascosa offers highly innovative solutions that provide clear benefits to customers and genuine added value. Our digital, durable solution withstands the harsh weather conditions encountered in everyday freight wagon operation and provides immediate benefits. It meets Wascosa’s high standards perfectly,” says Günter Petschnig, CEO of PJ Monitoring GmbH. “Our digital load monitoring system delivers reliability, safety and cost-effectiveness. The Load Monitor creates important advantages for all parties involved: those responsible for loading can carry out the process more quickly and have greater certainty regarding the weight and distribution of loads. Wagon owners and freight forwarders save costs in the short and long term as the transport volume is used to the best possible extent on every journey, while critical components such as wheel sets and bogies are protected by even load distribution"
