The Weitz Company is responsible for the extension of guideway and maintenance facility of the PHX Sky Train Project at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport.

The scope of the contract further includes Stage II development of the 2.5-mile extension of the automated people mover (APM) system.

The project is expected to come into service in 2022.

Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) has placed a contract with the consortium of Jacobs Engineering Group and Idom for the development of Dublin’s new metro link.

“Alstom’s interlocking technology will be integrated with the current signalling systems.”

The consortium will collaborate with the National Transport Authority (NTA) and TII to identify the most suitable route for the metro link, as well as provide technical and commercial assistance during environmental assessment and construction stages.

The new rail link will be equipped with ten underground tunnels.

French rail transport services provider Alstom has secured a €5m ($5.9m) contract to provide signalling equipment for an elevated section of the San Martin rail line linking Retiro with Paternal.

The 5km-long viaduct eliminates 11 level crossings, while nine new safe crossings will be constructed as part of the project.

Alstom’s interlocking technology will be integrated with the current signalling systems.

Albania has secured two loans worth €36.9m ($43.6m) and €35.5m ($42m) from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the European Union (EU) respectively.

The loan will be used to upgrade the 34km-long rail line between Tirana and Durres and construct a 7.4km-long rail link connecting Rinas International Airport with the two cities.

Eversholt Rail has collaborated with a consortium for the development of the Revolution very light rail (VLR) vehicle.

Led by Transport Design International (TDI), the consortium includes the University of Warwick, Cummins, and other companies in the automotive and rail market.

The bidirectional VLR vehicles will be 18m-long and have a passenger seating capacity of 56.
