Rail Cargo Group News
FIVE YEARS OF TRANSFER BRATISLAVA–KOPER
Since five years, ÖBB Rail Cargo Group (RCG) transports goods sustainably by rail between Bratislava and the port of Koper.
With the TransFER Bratislava–Koper, RCG connects Central and Eastern Europe with the Mediterranean, but also with the Far East. Almost every second day, intermodal flows of goods (FCL – Full Container Loads) are transported between Slovakia and Slovenia in around 20 hours, with antenna connections to terminals in the Czech Republic, Poland and Hungary.
Comprehensive services from the first mile to the last
As part of its comprehensive end-to-end logistics, RCG also offers daily haulage options by truck to the Czech Republic, Austria and Hungary. Additionally, customers benefit from the possibility of a simplified transport contract with only one rail consignment note (CIM) per train instead of the usual one per consignment.
Continuous increase in transport volume
Since its launch five years ago, the number of transported TEU (Twenty-Foot Equivalent Units) has increased eightfold. Despite the Corona crisis, the years 2020 and 2021 stood out particularly strongly. Since 2020, the largest share of transported goods has been bitumen, which is loaded directly at the terminal in Bratislava and transported onwards from here.
