NEW TRACK RENEWAL CONTRACT IN SEPTÈMES-LES-VALLONS, FRANCE
SNCF Réseau awarded Colas Rail a contract for the renewal of the track between the Septèmes-les-Vallons and the Marseille Saint-Antoine stations in France, for a total of 2.5 million euros. Colas Rail will renew the track to the south of the Septèmes-les-Vallons station to eliminate noise pollution, rework on a switch at the station, as well as perform hydraulic works around the tracks.
Our teams will operate on about 1.8 km of single track in a variety of different settings: railway bridge, trench and three tunnels up to 200 meters long (tunnels of Septèmes, Patrons and Parragallo). Due to these particular configurations and to the nature of the ballast track renewal work, Colas Rail offered to deploy its works train and crew. Work on site began in November 2020 and are scheduled to finish in April 2021.
These works will increase the acceptability of the line in terms of noise levels for residents and improve the comfort of passengers.
“We welcome this opportunity to put the expertise acquired over the last three years on the RER A line at the service of SNCF Réseau, thanks in part to the development and use of the works train, which will allow ballast track renewal works to be carried out under particularly demanding conditions.” Pierre-Gilles Douriez, Regional Director at Colas Rail.
