KONE to equip Beijing’s Metro Line 17 in China
KONE Corporation, a global leader in the elevator and escalator industry, will deliver 143 escalators and 61 elevators to Beijing's new Metro Line 17 in China. Once completed, the line will help to relieve congestion along the longest and busiest metro system in the world.
The 49.7-kilometer-long Metro Line 17 will transport passengers at the speed of up to 100 kilometers per hour between Beijing Future Science Park in Changping and the southeastern part of the city in Yizhuang. KONE will equip all of the new line's 21 stations with 61 KONE MonoSpace® elevators. In addition, KONE will deliver 143 KONE TransitMaster 140 escalators to eight stations from Panjiayuan Market West station to Yizhuang South station. Metro Line 17 will travel fully underground and 10 of the stops will be connected to other metro lines.
"We're proud to provide our solutions to this extensive underground project and continue to improve the flow of urban life in the country's capital," said William B. Johnson, Executive Vice President, KONE Greater China.
The project is estimated to be completed at the end of 2022, and the main architect is China Railway Electrification Survey Design & Research Institute.
