This strategic contract, valued at an estimated 15 million euros, is part of the overall modernization program for the Lille metro network launched by the Métropole de Lille for the 2025–2031 period (order book: April 2026).
This project, which is critical to the network’s performance, involves the supply and installation of new concrete tracks in underground sections, supplemented by the rehabilitation and improvement of the existing drainage system, as well as the repair of track expansion joints in above-ground sections.
It includes, in particular:
. the replacement of running tracks;
. the treatment of anchoring systems and associated infrastructure;
. the repair of track expansion joints;
. the acquisition and operation of a dedicated works train.
The work will be carried out at night to ensure the metro continues to operate without disruption to passengers, with work scheduled between 2026 and 2031.
This success demonstrates Colas Rail’s ability to apply its expertise to complex and challenging projects, particularly those involving automated transit systems. The Lille metro, a pioneer in automated systems, has significant technical challenges, including rubber tyre vehicle with side guidance that require particularly reliable and durable infrastructure.
Colas Rail’s teams have been working on urban rail infrastructure in the Lille metropolitan area for more than fifteen years through the contracts awarded to them.
"This project encompasses a wide range of operations, including the replacement of guide rails, switches and crossings, insulators, and tracks. The award of this new contract is part of the ongoing effort to renew the network’s infrastructure and confirms the company’s ability to meet the technical and economic requirements of these projects".Julien Biaujaud, Director of France Territory
By helping to improve the performance, safety, and sustainability of the infrastructure, Colas Rail is fully aligned with the modernization and service quality goals championed by Keolis Lille Ilévia. Through this project, Colas Rail is actively contributing to the development of efficient, reliable, and sustainable urban mobility for the benefit of passengers in the European metropolis of Lille.
