Founded in 2025 and based in Nantes, France, ElanRail develops railway safety technology designed to reduce collisions between trains and wildlife. Its Blue Sentinel system uses solar-powered connected beacons to detect approaching trains and activate targeted light and sound signals that move animals away from the track while preserving ecological corridors. Co-developed with SNCF Réseau, the wildlife collision prevention solution combines train detection, connectivity and autonomous operation for rapid lineside deployment. Already deployed across six French regions, ElanRail targets railway infrastructure managers and operators across Europe, improving network reliability, punctuality and wildlife protection.
Across Europe, growing populations of large mammals such as wild boar, red deer and roe deer are increasing the risk of wildlife collisions on railway networks.
